We extend a very special welcome to any students in the city. We know that most are not from here, and being away from home is not always the party people think.
We want you to know that Christians looking for a temporary place of worship can find it at Calvary Church. We are a small congregation of about thirty--not too small, and not too big to notice you. We're a mixed bunch, too: young and old, rich and poor, black and white...you get the idea. No matter what social or cultural background you come from, you will be made welcome.
What if you're not a Christian? Well, you're welcome too! The best time to come would be the Sunday evening service, at 6.30pm, which is attended by the 'regulars' too, but its message is geared towards those who are seeking God and the meaning of life. If you can't wait, you can read about it on our 'How to know Christ' section.
One barrier that many young people put up to avoid believing that the Bible is the Word of God is belief in biological evolution. By this we mean, not that we can observe changes in species of animals, but that such changes can eventually form different types of animals or plants altogether. The Bible teaches that there were certain definite 'kinds' of creatures made and that, despite small adaptive changes, nothing can become a different kind of creature altogether. This rule means, for example, that cats will always be cats. We can selectively breed forever, but cats they will remain.
The following are some links to Answers In Genesis, a group dedicated to upholding the Bible and refuting evolution.
